East Main Street

Like Tour 2, tour 3 begins at the Clinton Historical Society Headquarters (Old Brick) pictured to the right, built by Capt. Elisha White in 1750, the oldest brick house between New Haven and New London.

Before reaching Liberty Green, turn right down Waterside Lane. Traveling down from the Post Road, you will encounter many historic homes built by Sea Captains. We feature here houses that date before 1850, although there are numerous others built after that year which are also "vintage properties".

At the foot of Waterside Lane stands a mid-1700's cannon said to have been captured by John Paul Jones and used to repel a British frigate in 1812.
